Tue, 26 June 2007 As we try desperately to keep to something even remotely looking like a schedule we have for you episode seven of The Punk and The Pastor. Starting off with a little ditty from Hans Zimmer that it is almost necessary to put in front of our podcast. Then we move on to the dulcet tones of Kiss, Kiss with their song “Machines. Then we get into a discussion of 28 Weeks Later.Following that up we drop a song from the SUBS, they are from Beijing China, and this is their song, “What More. It may ore may not be in English. Not to sure on that one. Then we talk about The MANITOU (all caps just for Stacey). Then follow that up with a song from I Want To Kill You. It is their happy tune called “Drawn and Quartered at Gun Point. After that we get into a little teaser of our next episode by talking about the films of Stephen King, which is in turn followed by a song from some of the godfathers of punk T.S.O.L. called “Terrible People. We get into some letters, play a song by The Chariot called “The Company, The Comfort, The Grave. Then we talk about what we are going to watch next month, and we play you out to a bad ass tune called “Shirt of My Back by Synthetic Elements, the head liner for our first ever podcast concert. Good stuff. Comments[0] |
Mon, 30 April 2007 It's been a while so we have a big show for you this time.An extensive discussion on Grindhouse, the opus from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. We weren't liking Idoa so much so we are scrapping that and just finding music from all over the place. But trust me the music has stayed independent and great. And this episode has tons of it. Red Knife Lottery with their song So Much Drama. The Color of Money with Kelli Phornia. Unit 6 with their song Throwdown. You Say Party! We Say Die! with their tune Like I Care. Satanic Surfers with Callousness. Romeo Liquor Store with their song Discoteka de los Muertos, and a little bit of MJ. We also argue about the whole horror vs. thriller thing some more. You would think that we would get over it by now, but no. Comments[0] |

This month The Punk and the Pastor isn't a "horror" movie review show it is "dark fantasy." A dumb distinction but one that we as total nerds feel obligated to make. As usual our theme music comes from Ghost of Gelsomina And the fist song that we hear is from The Candy Snatchers: Download "Haunted Road" (mp3)
The first film that we review is Pan's Labrynth (El Laberinto del Fauno). We recorded this show before The Oscars, so right now we would like to note our humble congratulations for the three Oscar's the film won. Next up music from The Twenty Belows: Download "Shiny Little Hearts" (mp3)
Then it was onto a discussion of our DVD choice Silent Hill, which was followed by music from Dear Tonight: Download "There's Something You Should Know" (mp3)
Finally we chatter about what makes a horror film, no conclusion is made. Finally we want to mention that we are under a Creative Commons Attribution, No Commercial, No Derivatives 2.5 Deed, and that we have joined the Runaway Network (more information on that later down the line. Tue, 30 January 2007 OK so this is a very special New Years Edition of The Punk and The Pastor, featuring our first annual "I'veTotally Seen All of Those" movie festival. This year we have taken the plunge and watched all five of The Exorcist Films. Also did something a little different with the linking of the music from last episode, but we will be going back to the links to the bands we play on the next Punk and the Pastor. First up though was music from The Prague Philharmonic Orchestra with the Crouch End Festival Chorus, with their rendition of the theme from The Exorcist, "Tubular Bells." The first movie up for review was The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen Before featuring over ten minuets of additional footage this is hands down one of the most disturbing films ever made. Following that was music from Ennio Morricone performed by Prague Philharmonic Orchestra with the Crouch End Festival Chorus, this time they are playing "Regan's Theme" from The Exorcist II: The Heretic, which not coincidentally was the second movie we reviewed. The Exorcist II: The Heretic is an interesting film to say the least. To classify it would be to say it is very much so like the Italian films of its time, but not quite as good. To follow up that review we are blowing out "Regan" by The Demonics. This little slice of Bock-a-Billy hell has been a favorite of Gabriel's since the late 90's when he first heard it, and he hopes that it will be a favorite of yours. Next up, the true sequel to The Exorcist, The Exorcist III. The film made from the novel that is the real sequel to The Exorcist, Legion. A brilliant book, that doesn't quite translate into a brilliant movie, but it, is the best of the sequels. Then we feature music from Landspeedrecord! with their song "Let the Exorcism Begin". You can find damn near everything that they have recorded at the website for free. This is our favorite kind of band to be certain. Click Here to get those downloads. Finally we wrap this up by talking about both of the "prequels" to The Exorcist. Exorcist: The Beginning and Dominion: A Prequel to the Exorcist. No to movies with the same plot and the same actors could be any different. Last but not least, "Linda Blair" by Red Cross, another great band Comments[0] |
Tue, 19 December 2006 To start off, we got all of our music from the IODA Promonet. With that comes the ability for us to put links for the purchase of the songs we are featureing. So be sure to check that out.
Download "Still Broken" (mp3)
The in theatre is Turistas, a "survival horror" movie that is destined for a straight to video remake. Second is the song Wa Da Da from a great ska band called JFK and the Conspirators. Download "Wa Da Da" (mp3)
Our video choice was the splatter homage was Slither from James Gunn. Last song comes from straight edge old schoolers 7 Seconds, their cover of 99 Red Baloons. Download "99 Red Balloons" (mp3)
Discussion of e-mails from Enky, Monica & Steve. Then we talk about when survival horror is just an action flick. Then the announcement that we will be watching all of the Exorcist films for next month, and we mean ALL of them. As always Punk Horror Podcasts are released on a Creative Commons Deed. Comments[0] |
Tue, 21 November 2006 A little bit of up front stuff... We made it to the second episode of The Punk and The Pastor! That is exciting stuff to us. We had a short sponsor ship with After Dark Film's Horror Fest, where we were supposed to get free tickets to the movies but I had an e-mail failure and lost my contact's e-mail so no dice. Other than that we have a couple of promos that we got from Kiptronic it is a great resource for finding other people that will advertise your podcast by trading promos. Those are at the very end of the show, hope they aren't too obtrusive. Guess we'll all find out. Now... Show Notes First up we have a new theme song from Ghost of Gelsomina, this tune is called "It's a True Story" and we played it in its entirety on the first episode of Author Read Fiction. It's a creepy little tune. First movie we looked at was the Saw III obviously the sqeul to the Saw films. It is out pick for the theatres. Then some music from The Matadors with the song "Die" off their new album Horrorbilly 9000. Then the video pick for the show was 1997's Event Horizon, this made for some interesting discussion. Then some music from Drew Danburry a great musician from Then Stacey and Gabriel discuss when it is appropriate to let your kids watch horror. This is a try out for a segment where the two of them discuss something that hopefully they will argue about, that didn't work to well this time. We would love to get some input from you guys on this segment. Finally a song from The Creepshow. It is their cover of the Misfits song "Halloween". And that is about it. Both The Creepshow and The Matadors come to us from Stereo Dynamite Recordings, and Drew Danburry comes to us from well We have begun releasing the shows under a Creative Commons Deed .

Tue, 17 October 2006 Well here it is. The first Punk Horror podcast. A few quick things before I get into the show notes proper there are a couple of things I want to say about the recording. The sound quality of Stacey and Gabriel isn't quite what I would like it to be because we are waiting on a mixer. The next episode promises to be much better. Also keep a look out in a couple of weeks (cross your fingers) for some short fiction read by the author. This is going to be great and it should feature some really amazing fiction. Show Notes First off we have music from Gogol Bordello for the intro music. It is the song Sally from their album Gypsy Punk Underground. Next up was music from The Axe That Chopped The Cherry Tree. These guys from Greeley, Colorado really know how to bring a room to it's feet, or something. Great band be sure to check them out. We dropped the track The Parachute Effect from their album Don't Touch the Lightning. We then reviewed The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. The prequel to the 2003 remake of the 1970's classic film. Then comes some music from 6afraidof7. Another great band, this one hailing from Denver, CO. We played their song Ruby. After that we reviewed the 70's "Psychic Thriller" staring Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie: Don't Look Now. This 1973 film is on it's way to "remakeville." Lets see which one is worse. Then some music from Parker, Colorado's Ruin Sisera. Great hardcore, with their song These Shattered Hands. And Finally An outro soung from Gogol Bordello again, from the same album this is the song Never Young. That is about it for the show. Be sure to check us out at www.punkhorror.com, sign up for the mailing list, harrass us on the boards, or drop us an e-mail at podcast@punkhorror.com. Next month we will bring you more music, we will review the films Saw III, and Event Horizon, and a third movie that will be part of our new feature where Stacy and Gabriel talk about a movie that speaks directly to them as a punk or a pastor. Should be good stuff. If you have a band and would like your music on the show drop us a line, and if you have a recomendation for a film that will get the ire of a punk or pastor up do the same we would love for your input on this one.
